Kubernetes Service supports Docker Technologies

Container technologies have been a high priority for software developers and IT architects in recent years. For a long time, software has not been programmed and tested just locally in isolated development environments. Container technologies combined with software-defined networking (SDN) simplify deployment in integration and production environments. With just a few clicks, the production environment can be recreated locally on the developer’s notebook. Using containers, software can be moved across different platforms and infrastructures, thus enabling scalability, high availability and portability. The most commonly used container technology is the open source project Docker.

Kubernetes Platform triggers easy Management and Monitoring

With the ongoing establishment of Docker and containers in general, however, new problems are arising: The effort of managing the many individual containers in different places increases. To keep track, many heterogeneous systems need to be monitored and manually scaled. To allocate these issues, Google has developed the Kubernetes Orchestration Platform (K8S) and made it available to the open source community, which is now working with Google to ensure its evolution. However, Kubernetes places very high demands on the IT infrastructure (server, storage, network and Internet connection) and their processes. Many companies are therefore discouraged.

Kubernetes Service safely manages Docker containers in Swiss Data Centres

For this reason, Leuchter CLOUD Kubernetes Service has been created. When using the service, it is possible to choose between different installation methods and responsibilities in order to ultimately obtain a customised solution for your own company. The selected characteristic is set up in the geo-redundant Leuchter CLOUD. By storing the data in the Leuchter CLOUD, your containers are secure, reliable and highly available in Swiss data centres.

The service may be obtained as a pure IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) platform, where customers are responsible for everything except the basic infrastructure. Alternatively, Kubernetes can also be sourced as a PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) model. The customer only cares about the provisioned applications. All other services are provided by Leuchter, including the updates of Docker and Kubernetes as well as monitoring and security adjustments.

The containers to be orchestrated can be installed and operated with either Linux subsystem or Windows subsystem. Moreover, the Kubernetes components are operated exclusively in Switzerland. Access is via a secure environment.
