Unlike Virtual Apps, Virtual Desktops provides the user not only with a workstation, but with an entire virtual machine. This way, the workstation is completely adapted to the different needs.

Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop are characterised by their ability to deal well with bad Internet connections. Citrix overcomes high latency with its in-house developed HDX protocol.

Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop manage these resources centrally. Through the Citrix protocol HDX 3D Pro, applications are brought to the terminal. Deployment can also be made via a website. In that case, applications and desktops are started by the Citrix Receiver. Even without additional software, the HTML5 Receiver can display the applications or the desktop directly in the browser window.
