Azure Local (formerly Azure Stack HCI) makes it possible to operate cloud-based services and virtualization workloads directly on-premises, i.e. locally in your own data center or at edge locations. Azure Local acts as a secure hybrid cloud infrastructure within your existing IT environment. If required, applications, containers or resources can be seamlessly connected to the Azure Public Cloud and managed centrally via Azure Arc.
Azure Local is operated on validated, specially adapted hardware (Validated Nodes) from leading partners such as Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. This ensures maximum performance, security and stability for your local systems. The infrastructure is controlled as a service (hyperconverged infrastructure, HCI) directly via the Azure portal or the Windows Admin Center.
You retain full data sovereignty at all times and can flexibly deploy and manage virtual machines and modern container workloads. Microsoft does not have access to your local data, but provides continuous security and function updates from the cloud.
