Kubernetes service supports Docker technologies

Container technologies have become increasingly important for software developers and IT architects in recent years. Software is no longer only programmed and tested locally in isolated development environments.

Container technologies simplify deployment in integration and production environments with software-defined networking (SDN). The production environment can be recreated locally on the developer's notebook with just a few clicks. Containers make it possible to move software across different platforms and infrastructures. This creates scalability, high availability and portability. Docker is the most widely used container technology. It is an open source project.

Kubernetes platform solves simple management and monitoring

The establishment of Docker and containers in general leads to new problems. The effort required to manage many individual containers in different locations is increasing. In order to maintain an overview, the monitoring of many heterogeneous systems and manual scaling is required.

To solve these difficulties, Google developed the orchestration platform Kubernetes (K8S) and made it available to the open source community. This community is now working with Google to ensure its further development. However, Kubernetes places high demands on the IT infrastructure (servers, storage, network and internet connection) and its processes. This puts many companies off.

Kubernetes service manages Docker containers securely in Swiss data centers

The Leuchter CLOUD Kubernetes Service was created for this reason. The service offers various installation methods and responsibilities to choose from. This provides companies with a customized solution. This version is set up in the geo-redundant Leuchter CLOUD. There, the containers are stored securely, reliably and with high availability in Swiss data centers. The data is in good hands in the Leuchter CLOUD.

The service is available as a pure IaaS platform (Infrastructure-as-a-Service). Customers are responsible for everything except the basic infrastructure themselves.

Alternatively, Kubernetes is available as a PaaS model (Platform-as-a-Service). In this case, the customer only takes care of the applications provided. Leuchter provides all other services, including updates to Docker and Kubernetes as well as monitoring and security adjustments.

The containers to be orchestrated can be installed and operated with both the Linux subsystem and the Windows subsystem. In addition, the Kubernetes components are operated exclusively in Switzerland. Access is via a secure environment.
