Wi-Fi solutions in hotels and restaurants

Generate added value with Wi-Fi

In addition to running water, electricity and a place to sleep, a well-functioning Wi-Fi is now a standard hotel service. Various studies confirm this. 96% of guests expect this in hotels.

Whether they are reading the newspaper online, surfing social networks, watching a movie on Netflix or taking part in a video conference via Teams: The quality of the Wi-Fi determines the guest satisfaction rating on portals such as Booking or TripAdvisor. We show you how you can achieve added value with your hotel Wi-Fi solutions.

Webinar recording (German): Wi-Fi generates added value! How does it do that?

A Wi-Fi gives guests in the hotel and restaurant uncomplicated, secure and fast access to the Internet with their own devices. That goes without saying.

But your  Wi-Fi can do more. In our webinar, Yves Wedekind presents a variety of options and suitable Wi-Fi implementation variants. We have already summarized the added value that a good Wi-Fi generates:

  • Increased guest satisfaction and therefore star ratings on the website and in booking portals
  • Additional sales with the help of the digital concierge
  • Standardized infrastructure for all users
  • Guaranteed security and availability

What is a good  Wi-Fi?

First of all, good Wi-Fi provides a uniform infrastructure for hotel services and guests. Good coverage and signal strength are essential. These are ensured by the overlapping of cells.

However, signal strength is not the only decisive factor. A good  Wi-Fi also requires sufficient bandwidth. A high-quality Wi-Fi solution in the hotel also ensures the connection with Quality of Service (QoS) and provides a good user experience for customers and employees.

Security in the  Wi-Fi

thanks to segmentation and role concept

A secure Wi-Fi solution in a hotel is based on a role concept. We have numerous stakeholder groups with different needs:

  • Management
  • restaurant
  • finances
  • concierge
  • Housekeeping
  • Guests

The first step is to segment and separate the stakeholder groups and trades. Each stakeholder group is assigned a role. Depending on the function, this role allows certain accesses and defines the speed.

The guest stakeholder group is also divided into business and private travelers. Private travelers tend to read newspapers, surf social networks or watch Netflix. Business travelers, on the other hand, use office software solutions such as Office365 or take part in video conferences. A Teams call, for example, is more sensitive than a Netflix movie. Business travelers are therefore treated differently to private travelers.

This automation takes place in the background using the PMS system and is not visible from the outside.
